ANDREA – Intermediate Modern COSTUME info

Have your dancer try her costume on.  It will fit quite loosely on top for many. Adjust and STITCH along the top under the 'trim' to cover the RIGHT breast.  Adjust the left side of the costume so that the fabric sits just below the LEFT breast, and STITCH along the side to hold into place.  (I did not CUT anything).

Once this is in place, begin stoning just above the curved line of the sheer fabric.  I have included in my photos a color-coded key that gives you a place to start.  You will see that I generally tried to cover the breast, but avoided the ruching in the middle of the top, as this will stretch differently for each girl, somewhat.
Per the 'key':
1ST ROW:  Begin with clumps of three stones (pink).
2ND ROW:  Add another row in clumps of three, alternating in the 'windows' created by the first pattern (green).
3RD ROW:   Add two stones in line with the 'peaks' of the second row (orange).
4TH ROW: Next, add two stones vertically in the 'windows' of the third row (blue).
5TH ROW:  Add three stones in the 'windows' of the fourth row (light green).
6TH ROW:  Finally, make four long rows by adding five stones on top of the previous (5th) row, alternating every other line (pink, again).

You WILL have a few stones left over (I think 12, if I didn't drop or lose any).  Some of us might need to add a row to go completely around the breast, others of us may not.  I also had concerns about losing some as we stretch the fabric.

Please also STITCH your dancer's straps in a criss cross pattern on the back, right behind and under the built in bra straps, and CUT the remaining material.

I think that's it!  Emily Koca's costume is in the office as a SAMPLE.
