COSTUMES:
Please be sure to try on ALL costumes before rhinestoning –
MAKE ALL Alterations BEFORE stoning. Make sure straps are sewn in place
OR waist taken, side seams taken in, or whatever alterations are needed PRIOR to rhinestoning.
SAMPLES of RHINESTONED COSTUME are in the studio – Pictures are fine ONCE you've actually seen the sample. BE sure to take the time to do the stoning correctly and you must NOT need to ask for EXTRA stones, if you have done it correctly.
Remember sample costumes are actually someones costumes. So handle with care.
Costume Day is next weekend April 2 – All alterations / and rhinestoning is to be completed. Hats, gloves tightened if necessary, socks, props…….
ALL dancers should have ALL necessary shoes for competition by now. And they need to be dancing in them (Do not "save" for competition )
Fix Rhinestone on tap shoes as well by Costume day
ALL hats need to be ready to stay on & not fall off (weather stripping and clear elastic if needed ) Baseball hats need pinned with BLACK bobby pins.
NOTES Everyone MUST READ: (from my judging experiences – for success)
1) A polished dancer has the best chance ( Hair is SLICK and does not look bad by dance number 10 – USE GEL and make braid TIGHT so it does not loosen by later in day – USE correct bobby pins for hair color & thickness ** GO to Sallys for real bobby pins) THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT.

2) Make up needs to look enhancing. Bottom line, moms should do make up (or a mom's friend) – ALL DANCERS NEED EYELASHES for even ONE dance on a competition day. YES – ALL Dancers !
3) Tights CANNOT have holes in them or runs in them
4) Hair pieces and hats must not fall off ( clear elastic, pins, weather stripping…….) Cannot fall off – Again, a dancer should NOT be responsible for doing their own hairpieces. MOMS need to do this.
5) Chokers and Clasps behind necks on costumes need to be reinforced and ensure they will not fall off or un-clasp.
6) ALL nailpolish removed from Fingers and Toes
7) No hair bands on wrists
8) ALL dance shoes need polished and cleaned
9) Dancers have to smile thru entire dances and not lose faces when doing "skills" such as turns, or tricks. Contemporary & Lyrical dances MUST know what their faces are doing.
10) Dancers MUST connect with the judges and audience – FULL ON EYE CONTACT – No looking past or over – LOOK AT !!!!! BE confident.
11) Duets and trios MUST look at each other and have some type of relationship when dancing. You can't ignore the other person or other 2 persons.
12) Dancers in ANY line need to know judges are looking at EVERYONE. Some judges focus on back rows or those that are not doing the ariels….
YOU must be performing and knowing your dances when on stage. ALL dancers get looked at and judged.
13) Walk ON and OFF stage confidently – DO not laugh or talk on stage.
14) IF a song builds in music, so must your energy and face !
